1. Our Guardian-Operated Data Stance
Wonder Trails ("the Service") is a digital novelty and storytelling product operated by McCarron Group (ABN 37 934 136 801) ("the Operator"). The Operator is committed to global privacy compliance, including the Australian Privacy Principles (APP), GDPR, and CCPA. Because our service generates customised content for families, we adhere to a strict "Guardian-Operated" data model. We do not knowingly collect personal data directly from minors. All "Adventure Details" are provided by, and legally belong to, the purchasing adult.
2. Data Minimisation & Retention
We practice aggressive data minimisation to protect your family:
- 7-Day Purge: After seven (7) days, we automatically and permanently delete the personally identifying content of your adventure from our active systems and cloud storage — including, but not limited to, your explorer's name, start and end locations, the generated story and waypoint clues, and the map artwork itself. Please download your files promptly.
- Support: Information submitted through our contact forms or direct emails is retained in our active systems only for as long as necessary to resolve your query, maintain our customer support quality standards, and protect against legal claims. Once an case is fully resolved and the retention period is no longer justified, the communication is securely archived or deleted.
- Aggregate & Preference Data: To improve Wonder Trails, understand how families use the service, and inform our marketing and business decisions, we also retain non-identifying preference and configuration details from your order (such as approximate age, difficulty setting, transport mode, general country, and similar options), together with basic technical metadata about how your map was generated. These details are not affected by the 7-day purge described above, and are retained alongside the transactional data already described in this policy.
- Selective Deletion & Mandatory Retention:You may trigger this same 7-Day Purge early, at any time, using the data control panel at the bottom of your secure map tracking page. Please note: this right to erasure is subject to our Security and Fraud exceptions (Section 3), and does not extend to the baseline transactional data (such as Stripe payment records, your email address, and purchase dates) or the Aggregate & Preference Data described above, both of which we retain to comply with global tax, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations and to operate our business.
3. Exceptions to Deletion (Security & Fraud)
We reserve the right to deny data deletion requests and indefinitely quarantine data if a transaction is flagged for violating our Acceptable Use Policy (e.g., malicious behaviour or financial fraud). This data is retained solely for the purpose of cooperating with law enforcement or defending against legal claims.
4. Cookies & Tracking
We use "Strictly Necessary" cookies to make our website function. These include session cookies for user authentication (Supabase) and secure checkout processing (Stripe). We do not currently use invasive third-party tracking pixels.
5. How We Share Your Data
We do not sell your personal data. We only share necessary data with essential service providers:
- AI Providers: Anonymised prompt data is sent to our AI partners (e.g., Google) strictly to generate your map and mission content.
- Payment Processors: Your email and payment details are handled securely by our Merchant of Record, Stripe (via Stripe Managed Payments; this may appear as "Link" at checkout and on your receipt).
- Transactional Email: Shared with our provider (Resend) to deliver your map link.
- Wonder Trails Staff: A small number of authorised Wonder Trails operators may view your order details and generated adventure assets, strictly for customer support, safety review, and product quality checks. Access is limited to our secured admin systems and is never used for marketing or shared further.
